Best of wishes from me too, Tom.

As a footnote, last April I flew China Eastern booked through www.zuji.com as a fixed-date e-ticket. Cheapest flights I have ever seen and the site gives you variable dates showing price & airlines. All inclusive of taxes it was just over AUD 900 from Melbourne to Shenyang which included the domestic leg (Shanghai - Shenyang). Equivalent of around USD 700.

Same day connection.

Best of all, in China just call the airline and they allowed changing both the domestic and international legs without cost or fuss.

If at all possible, I will use China Eastern again next time.

Congrats Tom, it all worked out. You don't like flying out of NY JFK? It would have been less hours flying.

NOPE Vince, I don't have a problem flying out of NY or JFK.  It was all about price, the extra few hundred bucks I saved was money I had for the wedding and to leave wo de Laopo when I returned.  I hear about all kinds of great deals but when it was time I could never find anything better for my specific trip.

Congrats Tom.  Sounds like you found what you were looking for and so did she.  The story was good also.  One question, what about the agency fee?  Just curious.

Martin:
Tom...fantastic story!  Welcome to the lao gong club!
