I see where this is NOT for any Relationship, but... but will she have this control ones your lovely Wife is in the States with you? I would think NOT. So this is where your experience of the former In-law can keep you calm and not let this get out of your hands. There is always a reason for passed life experiences to be useful later. You and I know, who's really in control!

David E:
Dont give it the slightest worry Mike.....My Mother in Law feels the same about me !!, but my Father in Law is a treasure and we get on extremely well.

When in China, Ming, ( and Jessica) must by neccesity pay all the correct attention to Mother that their culture demands. So while you are there, Jessica walks a tightrope !!!

But once she is in US, all will be well.

You see, Jessica has already made her decision fo her long term future happiness....and you got the prize....nothing can change that.

This interim phase is just that...interim.

We are now looking forward to Ming's Dad's visit to Aus in July...but Mother refuses to come. Dad says he dont care, he is coming anyway !!!

Dont sweat the small stuff    ;D ;D ;D

JamesM.Roberts:
You have to look at things from Momma's eyes. An American comes over and now she is losing her daughter(and probably her closest friend) and grand child. Momma might not ever like you, but if you treat her daughter and grand daughter right she'll have no choice but to respect you.

Robertt S:
Congrats Mike,
I know you are happy that this journey is nearing an end, and you will soon begin another hopefully happier journey together here in the United States. :)  Best Wishes, Robert
