Title: Mainland China to Hong Kong
Post by: Willy The Londoner on March 11, 2010, 03:49:35 am
My wife now has her passport and wants to use it on a short trip to Hong Kong.

Will her passport be all she needs as I have heard that Chinese Nationals need an exit and entry permit.   Is a passport another name for this or is it a seperate document.

Willy,

she does need a visa to go. it will cost 29 rmb for a single visit
and she needs to apply about 20 days in advance. you can also
do it online and they come to you. Sisi knows about this and when
she returns Sunday i will ask her about the online.

I had no idea - does that mean she can keep going to Hong Kong when she likes until her passport ends in 2020?

Willy

Wonder if there is a shortage of eggs there LOL

I saw plenty of 100 year old eggs in Hong Kong but they did not look tasty at all :dodgy:. I went in October and people only seemed to be concerned with eating those hairy crab things! There were loads of shops that just sold hairy crabs. They didn't look tasty either, thank goodness for Pizza Hut lol.

My wife has received her exit/entry visa today. It is fixed to a booklet similar to a passport but the cover is black whereas the passport cover is red.  This book is valid for 5 years whereas the passport is for 10.

Inside there is a visa stamp - much the same as we 'foreigners' get to enter China - this is valid for one year.  So we can go back and forth to Hong Kong for the next tweleve months.

Question - Does this cover my wife to go to Macau as well or is it just for Hong Kong?  Cos I cannot read what it says.

Willy,

if you look at the book or have Angel look at it on right hand side it tells
you how many times you can do this it is not good for a year of travels
just that say  2 visits 1 year to do that

hope this helps
also i dont think Angel will ever get a visa to the U.K. as there is a posting in your
consulate here that they are to deny any visas to you because your out of the uk
and they would like to keep it that way   lol!!!!!!

Worked it out and it looks like we can go there once for up to seven days.
Cost 120 rmb for that.  Then will have to renew it for every trip so as that means a trip to Hunan then we will not do it that often.

yes it is very strange how you have to do that each time but it is what needs to be done

go to your local PSB office and get the info on this because you might be able to apply there each time
worth a shot

Yes, Willy,Your wife need to apply another visa to go to Macau.
And there is a limit, most of mainland Chinese only can visit Macau one time a year.
If she goes to Hong Kong, she can apply the 2 times visa in three months,or 2 times in six months,2 times in a year,It depends on yourself.
And your wife can sent the "passport" back to Hunan, and ask her family or friend to help her to apply the new visa in the machine, some cities has this machine(So she doesn't have to go back to Hunan, pls make sure there have this kind of machine ),You need to pay the express fee, then the officer will sent the passport to her by express in a week. The total costs less than 100RMB.
