Title: My Story So Far
Post by: Bee964 on December 03, 2010, 01:44:08 am
I really never thought about dating a woman from another culture, race, nationality...., untill 18 months ago. I was a member of another dating website. I was not very happy with the type of woman that was available there either. I was always getting the question, "What does your bike look like?, What kind of bike do you have?" When I would reply that it was a purple 18 speed mountain bike they would come back with, "I am talking about a motorcycle not a bicycle." I do not have a motorcycle. I don't think I will get one either. Too many aggressive idiots on the road for me to ride a motorcycle. Anyways, so you get the idea of the type of woman that would write to me. The ex-biker chick type. I don't have anything against that type of woman either, it is just not the type I was looking for. There were other "interesting" women too but there are on any other site as well. Interesting meaning strange. There were perfectly normal women too but they would not write back. Kinda made me think it might be me that is the strange one.

One night in june of 2009 as I was trying to check out the new women on the site I accidently clicked on the chnlove website. My first thought was to get out of the site and go back, but as I read the information I thought why not put up a profile. It was free and then I could check out the women there. I had always been fascinated by the eastern women anyways but I never really thought about having a relationship with one. Anyways, I thought about it and the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea about having a relationship with a chinese woman.

After several days I decided to check out the website again. I was a little shocked to see that I had a bunch of admiration letters sent to me. It was around a dozen or so. On the other site I would get maybe 1 or 2 every 10 days. And I would almost never get a responce to the letters I sent. Well I read the letters and also checked out a lot of profiles. I picked out a couple to send notes to to see if they wanted to write and also answered one of the admiration leters. I ended up narrowing it down to one woman and it was one of the admiration letters. After several months I told her that I was getting things ready for coming over to meet her. I had even been aproved for a leave of absence and I had filled out the chinese visa aplication and made arrangements to bring it to the consulate in Toronto. I almost got everything ready when out of the blue I get a letter from her and while reading it I got a different feeling from it. I had to read it several times before I turned to my daughter and said to her," I think I just got a Dear John letter." She read it over and said that it was not very clear but it kinda sounds like you have. After a couple days it was clear that it was over. Within a day or so her profile was removed and she was gone for good. (I have only just found out in the past couple weeks that I think it was a translator trying to generate revenue for the agency she worked at. I found the woman on another website. I got it in an email sent to me as new matches for me to look at. I may put up more about this later.)

I was hurt but I was still in the game. I took a couple months off the search and then jumped back in. It was about this time that I found this forum. I read everything I could to try to find out if I had said or done something wrong to this woman. So armed with a lot more information and advise I decided to reactivate my profile and start over again.

I started writing to a chinese woman that had moved recently to Singapore. We wrote EMF letters for several months, talked on the phone, texted to each other... pretty well everything I thought that I should do. I decided that it was time to meet her and booked my trip. She showed up to our meeting quite late, but I thought that this may be due to nerves on her part. We decided to meet again the next day and spend the day together. We had breakfast together and then she wanted to show me around Singapore. What she really wanted was to take me shopping and for me to buy her expensive gifts. I flatly told her no. We did see eachother a couple times after that but I knew there was not going to be anything come of it. I did have a great time there though.

Well, I returned home and thought that another break from the search was in order. After taking about 6 weeks off the search I started looking again. I was contacted by several women. One woman was one that I had writen to almost a year before. After a couple letters I got the feeling it was not her talking to me but it may be a translator trying to make a little extra cash so I quit writing to her. Meanwhile I had been contacted by another woman.

YanLing had writen to me an admiration letter and I, at first, was not going to answer it at all. Every time I went to the website for the next several days I would take a look at the letter she sent to me. (More on this later) Sitting on the bed one night after a couple drinks I thought, what the heck, write her back. I would always look at the letter and reread it. There must be something that has caught my attention, so I responded to her letter. It was several days before I got a reply from her but she sounded sincere and she had given me her email address and QQ number in the letter. (I had asked about these things and others as well for more direct communication) My first reaction to seeing the QQ number was,...this is different. Her second letter she is giving me her QQ number, but she did say that she would be a couple weeks before we could talk on QQ.

From that time on I would start up QQ and then leave it running and just watch to see if she signed on. We exchanged a couple more EMF letters and then one night I saw her on QQ. I knew she was at work. The message board pops up with the words "Hello. This is YanLing." My heart skipped a beat and I kinda froze up a little. I didn't know what to say. Finally my fingers got around to moving and typed back, "Hello, this is Dave. How are you?"

My second thought was, her profile. She had her english ability as fair. Ok, what exactly does fair mean? I think I asked Arnold this question too. As we started to chat with each other it was apparent to me that her english was pretty good. She will tell you her english is poor but we have been chatting twice a day now ever since and we have only had a couple times when we could not understand eachother.

We only exchanged a couple EMF letters. The last one was back in the middle of june. We chat twice a day almost every day on QQ. We text message to each other. This stopped recently. I did not notice it though. One chat session she was very preoccupied with something and would not look at the screen much. I asked her what she was doing and she said that she had dropped her phone in the bethroom and it got wet. It does not work anymore. Her friend lent her a phone that she had until hers was fixed. She could not figure out how to text in english. This is what she was fiddling with. That is when I noticed she had not answered my text from a day or 2 before.

This woman has been nothing short of amazing to me. She goes out of her way to try to connect directly with me. If I am going to be someplace for a couple days she asks for the phone number and calls me. I do my share of calling too but it is the effort she puts into making a relationship work or into trying to find a way to stay in touch that is refreshing to me. All this effort and we have not met face to face.

I now have my ticket to china to meet her. I tried to book the flight the other day but I kinda forgot to call the credit card company and tell them I would be out of the country for a couple weeks. (I am in florida right now. I was asked to drive my mothers car down here. I am leaving it here and flying back home.) Well they put a block on the card and I had to get it removed. She just told me tonight that the hotel room is booked too so all I need is a visa and I'm good to go. I will be there from the 27th of january to february 15th. I am really looking forward to this trip and meeting this amazing woman.

That is my story so far. I may need to edit this later. I had most of it written and then this pc decided to crash and I had to rewrite it. Sorry about the length.

Hope your not planning on too much travelling during your trip Dave.

Chinese New Year falls on 3rd February 2011 and something like 350 million Chinese will be travelling in that period before and after it.

Great story Dave,

My wife and I use to talk for a few hour everyday for about 8 months before I came over here. Just like yourself I was amazed by the amount of time and effort she put into it. Never missed a day, started English classes too. I've never experienced this level of commitment  in a relationship before,Chinese women sure are special. Best of luck with your upcoming trip, sounds like you will be well looked after. ;D

Thanks everybody. I guess that I kinda missed putting in that it will be Guangzhou that I will be visiting. I suppose that she will have other things in mind too. I think that I also forgot to mention that she has her own car and does drive. She was quite late getting on line one night and as she turned on her computer she tells me that she is very sorry she had to wait for security so she could change her tire. She had a flat.

Willy, for chinese new year I don't plan on going anywhere. Just put me in an area with some matches and fireworks and I will be happy for the day.  ;) I am surprised that more guys don't talk about this here. I don't mind not being able to travel for a couple days.

I don't understand why you have a problem with biker or ex biker chicks? They are very open with there drama in their lives and you can always help them with their rent and other payments while they are collecting some sort of government subsidized pay check? You always know their ex's name cause it's tattooed on their necks? They take better care of their bikes then they do their kids... so what's so wrong with this?  :D

I can relate to your story.

Dave,

Best of luck to you on your trip and with Yanling. I think you will be amazed at the difference in fireworks here and what you will see there during New Years. I could not believe it myself and I was in a very small town then nothing like Gaungzhou.

I showed YanLing my visa on the web cam. She had been having a horrible day at work, up untill that point. the rest of the day was a great day for her. She is still smiling. She says that now she is really nervous because she knows that soon we will meet face to face.

The only thing that I am not looking forward to is the 15 hour flight leg. When I came back from Singapore my butt was numb for a couple days and my back was a little sore. The 7 hour flight from France on monday started to bother me but there was a London "bobby" sitting beside me that was flying to Toronto to meet a man she had met on line in a bible study. The last couple hours of the flight "FLEW" by as we talked about our experiences with long distance on line dating.

I think I will do a lot more walking around the cabin this time. I am used to being on my feet for very long hours at a time from my past employment.

I have some other questions too.

Is there a maximum amount of cash you can bring with you? I am not talking about an ammount like the US and Canada have a limit on, $10,000.

Is it difficult to get it exchanged in the bank?

Is it better to bring US or Canadian? (They are at par so the exchange rate is not an issue.)

That is all I can think of for now.

Thanks Mike,

There is a bank machine in Windsor you can use to get new US bills and the rate is usually better than if you went to the counter. I have to go to Windsor to see my one daughter so I can stop and get the US there.

Like Mike said...make sure the bills are in excellent shape.  I had no problems converting 50's and 100's.  Bank of China is the place to do it.  Get your lady to go into the bank, as apparently it is easier for a local than it is a foreigner.  Also, hit the Currency Exchange at the airport in Toronto (I am assuming you are flying out of Pearson).  Convert around 200 CDN, so you have some cash on hand when you arrive.  This can cover hotel and food for the first day or so.

Have a great trip Dave.  I will talk to you soon.

I've never used the currency counter in Pearson, but the one in Hong Kong's airport wasn't too bad.  There are a few in there.

Which reminds me, I should get some NTD currency myself...

I dont bother with a large amount of cash now. I found it is easier to use the Bank of China cash machines with my Visa or Mastercard Debit Card.
I just take $500 in cash to get me through the first few days. Never had a problem changing Aus or US dollars. In fact, there is usually a "private" currency trader lurking in most Banks who will give you a better rate...if you need to convert your own dollars.

Mr Bee , just make sure that whatever cards you are holding that you notify them that you will be in China for X time and add a week either way , I alway convert 200 dollars at my local bank into Yuan and that gets me through the first days but I always top up from B of C or Agri Bank once I am there , 1 to make sure cards are working and to carry 2000 plus most times . Also most hotels will only accept Visa or Mastercard for hotel payments . once you have met and things are fine , tell your other half that she can control the money and stand by for the haggleing ha ha , even simple things like the taxi from the airport , you are in her domain so slip her some money for her to pay , we even have some simple but yummy meals for under 60 yuan for 2 including beer , so your money will go a long way , make sure whatever notes you are holding that you DO NOT fold them , along with what I keep hidden I always use  A4 envelopes to keep the notes neat especially Aust/US , regards Sujuan and Robert .

I have been living here since June 2009.  The bank knows where I am but every five or six weeks or so I get a block put on either of my two debit cards.

Its back on the phone to the UK spend about 15 minutes chatting and the problem is lifted.  Lucky I have a Skype subscription and I can call any landline in the UK for free.

Its a pain but I know they are keeping a check on my money almost as well as my wife!!!!

I opened a Bank Of China account , brought over a good amount of money and just lodged it all into that and paid by plastic as and when needed. No worries about loosing loads of money or carrying around, bar the first day obviously when you go to the bank. I gave the card to my wife to look after when I am back here and said if she ever needs money to take some out from that. You just need to bring your passport to open a Bank Of China account and they'll give you the debit card there and then , all very easy to do.

Dave, assuming all goes well, hope to see you in GZ in a few weeks time :)

Thanks for the info guys. I had planned on bringing some cash with me seeing as it is my first time there. If everything continues to go well I plan on opening a bank of china account there.

Irishman,

I expect to see you there. I have to send you a PM soon with contact information. I have been rather busy here but I expect things to slow down until my trip. I have everything ready to go now and I am growing restless as the time grows near. Everytime I think about the trip I get the anxious butterflies in my stomach...

Side note;

I saw a dance show in Kitchener on the weekend, Shen Yun. I thought it was an excellent performance! I think it is in Montreal right now and it will be in Toronto very soon. I think there are 3 troops traveling around north america putting on this show. The website is

Funny you should mention Shen Yun Bee, there are performances in Sydney running from 8Feb-25Feb no good to me as I will be in China then.  Must be a lot of performers from this company traveling around the world or the show is coming from Canada to Australia?

The bags are all packed now. I just want to review the weight limits on the checked bag to make sure it is not over the limit. I have a couple more things to do on monday and then I will be ready to go. Even though I am ready I know I will forget something. The nerves are beginning now. I just hope the first impression I give her is a good one.

Dave,

Don't worry about first impressions or the feeling you will do something stupid.  Not that anything like that happened to me, I have heard that women in China are quite forgiving and even kid the man about the first meeting IF the nerves get the better part of him.  So lay back and chill out, you'll either make a few smooth moves or have something to laugh about later.  :D

At the airport now and I am very excited about this trip. I just got a text saying the connecting flight out of JFK is delayed 45 minutes. This better not be starting again. I had fun going to France last month with the flight delays and missed flights and re-scheduling them.

I did not get much sleep last night. I had 25 minutes in the hot tub to try to relax but it did not do much to relax me. I went to bed around 1 am and was up by 5 am. I just hope that I can relax enought to sleep on the plane.

I was just thinking that maybe I should start a new thread just for this trip. I will think about it while I wait for the plane in New York. I have a little more time there now.

With the snowing there now and the cold wind things are slowed up there. I'm guessing cause of waiting on two emails from there and they may have stayed home today instead of being at the office. Relax on the plane and get some sleep. Your on your way. Good luck.

Dave I know it is a little late to suggest this but as soon as I am on my final flight to China I immediately go to their schedule.  I take 1/2 of a sleeping pill and I'm out for at least 4 hours.  Then I'll take the other half.  It doesn't take long to adjust to the 12 or 13 hour difference that way.  I do the same on my return but it takes a little longer to adjust.

Firstly I want to thank everybody here for any suggestions and advise they have given me. Shaun, Halfpint and anybody else, I did get something from my dad to help with the sleep but it did not help too much. I think I maybe slept a total of 2 0r 3 hours, if that.

Martin,
I have thought a lot about the past summer and also last october in Algonquin park. I look forward to seeing you there again this summer, or any other time. You and your family willl always be welcome at my cottage there.

I better update my love story now.

When I finally got off the plane and through customs I headed towards the baggage claim area to get my things. As I was looking at the interior of the building looking to see where one might stand to meet arriving passengers I spot her standing behind a glass divider. She is bouncing up and down on her feet waving her hand in the air at me. Clearly she has spotted me before I have spotted her. I will always have this memory in my mind.

We have spent the past couple weeks travelling aroung GuangZhou seeing the sights and more importantly meeting her friends and family. As we have travelled together we have grown more closer to each other. This woman is everything that I want and SO much more. I have been thinking lately that I would be a fool to miss this opportunity. I have been thinking the past 4 or 5 days that I should propose to this woman before I leave. I did not budget for the purchase of a ring so I decided to talk to her about this. We sat down and discussed our relationship and as I asked her what she thought about us getting married she said that she did not care about a ring. All she cared about was getting a good man for a husband and she thought it would be me. I just thought to myself that I really was a lucky guy now. Don't get me wrong here, it has not all been rosey. We have had disagreements and misunderstandings in our relationship. Some here in person, (she is still ocassionally asking me to drive eventhough I have told her that if caught I may not be able to return to china to marry her. They could refuse a visa) Anyways, I told her that I want to return to china to marry her. I do not know when yet but I want to return to marry her. We fit together very well as a couple.

Each and everytime I get to follow a Guy through this and find him being over-joyed to have found such ( which sometimes seemed almost un-reachable ) wonderful Woman in a far away Land . This is why , being here  AFTER we are done with our Journey .. is so great .. get to enjoy other's with their up and down's . Makes it all worth it .

Thanks for all the feedback. I have been laid-up the past several days due to catching the flu and was bed ridden for 3 and a half days. I have felt a little better today so I will try to finish up the trip. Although not much happened there are still things to say about my trip.

After Lotus mountain we did not plan any other excursions out to see major sights. We wanted to spend as much time as possible together knowing it may be a while before we see eachother again. Truthfully speaking I was surprised that we hit it off right from the get go. I was prepared to see some rough spots in getting to know eachother face to face. She thought the same thing. There has been no rough spots to work through. I have found it amazing that 2 people could meet on the internet and get along very well together and then plan a trip to meet face to face and get along so very well. Usually as we drive around GuangZhou LingLing would get laughing because I tend to make comments under my breath to the people that stare at me. I would not say anything mean or belittling to them. Some people would just stop in their tracks and look. So I would not feel so centred out I would usually try to say something funny to them. I had a man asking me to take his and his wifes picture at a park. He was looking at his camera and talking to me in cantonese and when he looked at me properly and realised I was not chinese he just froze. I was chuckling and said that I wondered when he would look up. Then to my surprise he asked me where I was from in very good english. I guess the expression on my face was priceless.  LingLing and the wife had a good laugh over it.

We spent the last couple days walking the markets and looking for gifts to bring home to the friends and relatives. Most places we went to she would haggle with the owner. I wanted to get 2 compacts, one for each of my daughters. We walked away with 12, 2 RMB each, 24 RMB total. 2 would have cost 10 RMB at full price. So now I think every female relative I have is getting one. I found these led scrolling name badges in an electronic shop. A friend of mine and both my daughters being in retail will get them. I stuck to getting just the three and still got a good price on them. She told me that if I buy 12 I could have got them at almost half price. My friend likes his. I have not given it to my daughters yet.

She would walk through the food market and grab something from the bin and ask me if I like it. Depending on the taste I would usually say something. She did this with a dried mushroom once. So I took it and examined it and proceeded to try it. She started yelling "No no no.... you must prepare first!" I would respond that I cannot tell you if I like it until I try it. Most things are all right but some things I just did not like. Every shopping trip was like that.

When we would eat we would stick to smaller out of the way places that she knew about that were very good. LingLing really likes the small noodle shops around town. They are pretty good though. I want to say something here about eating with chopsticks. This was my first time doing this. After almost 3 weeks I had some good times with them and then there were some bad times. Most meals there would usually be at least one incident when I would grab something, say a shrimp, and just as I get it to my mouth one of the chopsticks would move a little and the shrimp would go flying off to the floor. Most times the waitstaff would bring a spoon for me but I would still percevier. Well, sometimes I would give up and use the spoon.

It is well into march now and I have neglected to finish this post due in part to the fact that I still was not well and the illness continued well into the 2nd week. Then I had a rather nasty letter from a lawyer and I have been kept busy looking for records in my files. I have these now and feel a little more relieved and a lot less stressed so I will try to continue.

We spent our last couple days together just enjoying eachothers company. We knew that parting was going to be hard and we were trying to prepare ourselves for it. We knew that we got along very well together and we seem to be a good match for eachother. We talked about where our relationship will be headed now that we know we want to be together. We also talked about when I should return for another visit with her. She just wants me to come back and stay forever. I know this is not possible and she knows this too but as she said she was just telling me what she wants. I am thinking that I hope that I can return before the end of june because that is when my visa expires but that may be a tight squeeze. I think that september may be a better bet as to when I can return.

The last night was a restless one. I could not sleep. I kept waking up and I would just look at her sleeping. Then I would fall back asleep for another 30 minutes or so and wake up and just watch her sleep again. When the alarm went off at 4:00 am my heart just sank. I did not want to leave. I never felt so bad. Here I was with a woman that was everything that I ever wanted and I had to leave her and come home. I thought to myself that it will probably help if I think about seeing my children, my parents and friends. It did help a little but I still did not want to leave. We got up and got ready and packed up the remaining things in her car and off we went to the airport. When we got to the airport we kept ahold of eachother and did not let go until we had to. We saidour good byes and I went through security and headed toward the gate. When I got to the gate I sat down and started to get ready relax a bit before boarding the plane. Then I heard her cell phone ringing in my pocket! Crap! I still have her cell phones in my pocket! I had to race back to the security spot and ask a guard to take her phones to her. At least I got one last look at her before I had to leave. This brought tears to my eyes again. I headed back to the gate and sat down for about 5 minutes before I had to board the plane and head back home.

When I got back to Toronto I did not get my luggage again. It had been hijacked again by the US TSA again. It would arrive the next day and I told the airline I would return to pick up the bags. That is when I had a long conversation with the airline personel. They told me what was happening to my luggage on this trip. When you travel through the US they will take your bags and examine them at their facility on the airport grounds. This takes time. Usually more time than people have between flights. So your bags will get put on the next flight out to the destination outside of the US. In the case of my flight to china it was the next day.o when my bags got to Shanghai there was nobody there to claim them and recheck them through to GuangZhou. This is why they took 5 days to get to me and when I returned home it took an additional day to get my bags. I did claim them in New York and rechecked them through to Toronto but the TSA grabbed them and took them to their facility and this delayed my bags. What a pain in the ass!!

As I am home now for several weeks I feel the strong urge to return to china to be with LingLing. I will start looking at flights again but I will keep in mind that I need some time between connecting flights to make sure I get my bags! I am looking forward to my return to china and moreso to being with my LingLing!!

Dave C

ps.

LingLing's best friend lives in Switzerland, about one hours drive from where my sister lives. I am going back to France in may and I hope that I get a chance to meet her and her family. She is married to a frenchman and they have a daughter that is 3 years old. I have talked to this friend several times on the phone and I would like to meet her face to face.

Dave, I have had such a good time reading your post today, I can relate to your story so many ways, Wow, so many memories have come flooding back to me, The people in Beijing would stop in their tracks to stare at MinYing and me and this was annoying to me and a little uncomfortable to my wife, We both perceived with the relationship and now i am so proud to say she is my wife, The story in her home town was a little different some three months later when i returned and she did not care about the locals staring at us,,She would not let me go, Hand in hand every where we went.

Our last night together in Beijing on my first trip was a lot like yours, sleepless and my heart sank too when the alarm went off, I know how you felt.

True the family, Children can make you feel good but the desire to be back in China with my wife is so overwhelming, The communication sometimes can be so hard but i have to concentrate on the bigger picture , It might take a while but it is worth the wait, Really happy to read your post today, I thank you for making my day bright and remembering why i am here, cheers, ,,,,  John .

John,

Thanks for the comments on the post. I am trying to think of when I can return to this amazing woman! I hope it is sometime soon. I have been thinking of sometime in september realisticaly but I am hoping for sometime sooner. My visa expires the end of june but I don't know if I can return by then. I really hope to but I won't hold my breath. There seems to be nothing but problems cropping up left and right. I will keep everybody posted here though on when I get the trip booked.

This amazing woman is worth the effort at getting back there.

Hi Dave, I know what you mean when you say that problems keep cropping up every where, My next flight is booked for the 25th of May but problems keep arising, MinYing is pleading with me to return and i will do my best to not disappoint her but i may have to, My visa will expire soon too but i will renew it anyway.
Amazing woman,,,Ha ha , I know where you are coming from, Every so often my wife does something that keeps me begging for more,,Just today she texted me during her English class  and wrote "good morning husband" In English,, for first time ,I was so overwhelmed and i have had a smile on my face all day long,  If only China was closer to Australia , I would return every month just to be with this AMAZING woman,,, Happy for you Dave,,regards from John.

These long distance relationships are a challenge.  Many highs and lows.  Hopefully, we are all up to the challenge!

Ahh to have the luck of the Irish! Yes you are at the end of this stage of the journey Irishman. Now the page turns and you have started on the next stage. And how we are green with envy!

Yes Arnold and John it is the little things that make it worth the wait. I love getting those text messages on my phone. "Just wanted to say hi." or "Good morning honey!" means so much sometimes.

I happened to find a flight to Hong Kong for $1058 CDN from Toronto for the middle of may to the middle of june, nonstop, and I am seriously thinking about it since LingLing said she could meet me at the airport there. I was thinking of going back to China sometime later in the year, september or october. I will have to make my mind up soon I guess.

Jingle,  maybe we should be asking you what is your story.  ;)

I have noticed your English is very good.  When your are comfortable enough why don't you tell us your story.

The short side of mine is that I have a fiance who lives in Shaoguan.  She failed her first attempt on an interview in Guangzhou and we are preparing for our second  attempt.  I plan to see her before the end of this year and we will marry then.

Yes .. Shaun is right Jingle . Most Stories from the Member's here are pretty much explained to some degree ( bad or good ) , so please tell us a little about yourself .. if you are interested in finding somebody here . Which by the way is not an easy thing .. as we are not loaded with Single Member's in our Forum . After posting some details , you will see who is interested in starting a Friendship/Relationship with you .

As for my Story , it is like an open Book on my Blog which you can visit anytime from my URL on the bottom of each Post .
So feel free to let us know about you , we are all Friends here ( I think ) and see what becomes of it .

Hi Jingle,
I can give you a very short summary here .....

I started writing letters to my Jessica in June 2008 ...
after 14 months of that .... in August 2009,
I finally traveled to China to meet her ...
it was a roller coaster ride of emotions, confusion, and me trying to understand what was real, or was false based on all the letters we had sent to each other, and now the fact that things did not match in person. It was a good thing I was there for 18 days, and we met and talked every day ... but by the end things seemed good, and we were engaged for marriage, and I returned home to NY state. That is when we really got to know each other ... as we talked each day directly to each other by computer, and phone ... no middle person ...
there were still plenty of issues and problems, as I lost my job, and had to find work ...
I finally received a job offer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada ... so I moved from New York, and started a new life in Canada.
In July 2010, I returned to China for a second trip and we were married... on July 30, 2010
Both of my trips are described on this website, as I was posting messages during the trips....
Now I am a married man to a wonderful Chinese Lady, and I am waiting for her paperwork to be approved so I can bring her to live with me in Toronto. We just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on July 30, 2011.

so there is the last 3 years of my life ... for you to see.  :)
Mike

thanks ,Mike ,for sharing ur story and it is very sweet .
hopefully the paperwork could be approved asap  :)
