Title: Hurricane Proxy
Post by: Willy The Londoner on June 19, 2010, 11:00:35 pm
I was working OK from China - no pblems early this morning.

Thern I tried Hurricaneproxy following advice that it was a good way of getting onto the forum from China.   Maybe it is just my computer but I tried to get on and a huge warning came up .

ERROR 403

You are not permitted to enter this service.

Welll since that moment my computer has had havoc played with it.  Everything has slowed down. Places I could get to with no problem without a Proxy have now become unvisitable.   Even using my paid fore proxy servers I am having difficulties and everything has slowed to a crawl.

It looks as if my trying to open that url has opened a can of worms and I am being closely scutinised.

Thanks for the warning Willy.

As a result I haven't tried it. Ninja cloak is working fine for me. OK you don't see the forum correctly but it's ok. I've found using daveproxy.co.uk lets you view the forum correctly but when you try to post anything it crashes sometimes, well most times to be honest. Strange really as I regularly use it to view and post on Facebook. The Chinese internet is a strange beast!

Willy if it was a 403 error warning.I don't think the Chinese secrete police will be kicking your door down.I get the warning in the states sometimes. And no secrete Internet police have come yet. What doe's concern me is you said your computer is slow now.If you reboot the computer. And that doesn't make it run right. Then you probably got a virus.

There are Trojans and viruses that can infect your computer. That your anti spyware.Won't pick up.So it is worth having it looked at.If this is the case.

Willy I think you might be over-reacting slightly  ;D
There is no way that by visiting a site that is blocked is going to suddenly slow down your computer and do all kinds of things to other proxies.
You may have a computer virus though as Maxx has pointed out.

That's the problem with computers these days.  Give people too many options and it becomes confusing to use.  I've heard macs are great machines.  I've never used one myself.

I'd suggest using Firefox and getting the Noscript add-on, but even that can open up a whole other can of worms as far as ease-of-use goes.   Internet explorer is great because it's easy to use, familiar and everything just works.  The problem with it is that it allows viruses and trojans to work easily as well.   Willy, if you were using Internet Explorer version 6, you brought this on yourself.  It's the most unsafe web browser on the planet.  That's not just an opinion.  It has more holes than swiss cheese.

Have you sorted it out yet Willy?
Apparently and I'm no expert at all  but the problem could  be with your IE or system files.
Click Start, Run. Type in 'sfc /scannow' and click OK. When the scan is complete, reboot and see if that helped.
If not, here is an article at Microsoft to help repair IE:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378)

That is of course if your using IE, if not just disregard every thing I've just said!

I had a similar problem the other day.  I ran spybot and it found a couple of nasty ad snooper whatever you call them.  I couldn't do anything.  After running spybot it all improved.

Sorry have not been on for a couple of days.

Bought a neat little package from Uniblue.  It was 60 dollars well spent.

Now my PC is working so fast I am able to read the postings I was about to make before i have even written them!!!!!

Still think that I should not have ventured off Express for my proxy.
