Hello Robertt and Gerry, I have been reading these boards for half a year now, finally decided to join in yesterday.
Nice to meet you all .I am another new corner to this site and am happy to have something to share.
My story started on the meddle of 2010, I joined Chnlove with the expatiation of meeting someone special,Hello, I am quite new to this and am happy to share my love story.
. First of all, let say I’ve been asked by family members and friends this question! Why did I select a Chinese Woman, to be my Wife? I know, I am not the only one too have this question asked. Why choose a Woman that lives halfway around the World, when there are plenty in Miami Florida or a lot closer? To tell you the true, I have always loved the Chinese Culture and their very old and very interesting History and movies that stretch over many years. I have always been fascinated with whatever had to do with China, as a Child and now as an Adult. Actually, it was just a Dream that I had at first, what would it be like? To really be married to such a beautiful Chinese woman? By that, I mean ... they are so beautiful in their appearance and of course one must mention that gorgeous and intriguing inner beauty that can almost hypnotize you and leave you speechless. So how did this dream turn into reality? This is where Faith / Destiny comes in, like with a big boom or Bam as one of my favorite chef cook would say one day, my story began on the day of Aug 2011,when I joined Chnll{china love link} with expiations of really meeting someone special, At first I had some admiring mail but they were not Sirius, only one stood out from the rest so I began communicating with this 35 year old lady named Xiaomei Xu,She didn't have any photos on her profile but the message on her profile was in line with what I was looking for in a woman, plus she was giving me what I asked( QQ, phone number and face to face webcam talk). After a few weeks on QQ we departed china love link and begun to enjoy each other daily talk and I could not retain myself and wanted to just go out and scream how much I love that Woman , that I have met over the Internet . I did kiss my computer many times for what it had done for me. Yes this sound a little crazy but It opened up my Heart to a new Life , with the MOST lovely , nicest , warmhearted , soft voiced, brilliantly smart, short and soon to be my Wife / Lao Po / Xiaomei Xu , my Taishan Flower . I would not want it any other way. I decided to plan a trip to China in Oct 2011.When she heard I was coming to see her, she was like really!” you are coming to see me” and I said yes! Let me put it the way she said it,” for shore you come see me face to face”. “You not lie me” and I said no lie. The reason she said this was because she had someone buildup she hope once and didn’t come through.
I arrived in Hong Kong airport on the 13th of Oct and met Xiaomei Xu with her aunt in the airport lobby, she was very happy to see me face to face for the first time and happy that I keep my promise to her about coming to see her. I gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek which made her a little red in the face, after a few minute talking in the airport lobby, her aunt took me to the Panda hotel Located just 30 minutes from Hong Kong's international airport adjacent to the Tsuen Wan MTR station, where I stay overnight. The next day I meet up with Xiaomei and her aunt for lunch together, we both were very comfortable, smiling and laughing more frequent the same way we did on QQ and yahoo plus the language barrier was not too much of an issue because Xiaomei English was not that bad. I had to make sure I didn’t use big words when we speak and speak not too fast.
After one day in Hong Kong, Xiaomei Xu and I return to her home town to meet her family, I was a little afraid, I have heard heartbroken stories of men going to mean the family members and they didn't like them and so ended the relationship. I told her what if you family don’t like me but she said she family will love you and she was right about that. Her families made me feel like I was one of the families. We both grew closer each following days and had a fantastic time together in Taishan city, She was stared at in public for holding my hand and wasn’t shy about this at anytime, she accepted this and didn't let it bother her, her favorite line was I don’t care that people are staring at me holding your hand or kissing you. She was a little overwhelmed sometimes that I would open doors for her and seat her at the dining table first and she also never had a man carry shopping bags for her before. ;D
We spent 12 wonderful days together and with her brother and sister in-law. Our last 4 days were a little different, She was reaching for my hand in public and giving more cuddles and affection than before and was getting quite sad that we would soon part company, She would not let me out of her sight , not for a minute,Our last evening was the best night , We dined together with the family and shared a few green tea with no sugar, She was playful like a school girl and a barrel of laughs, The following morning her parents and her took me to the bus station to return to Hong Kong airport to catch my flight back home. I never thought it would be so hard to say good bye to her but I was wrong, she stood there and watched me walk on that bus, I did not want to look back but I could not help myself. She was crying as well as I.
She is the most beautiful soul that I have met and we still keep daily contact, She texts me on the phone every day and never misses a day without the emails and webcam, We have pledged our love for each other and I have return to see her on January 2013 to meet her and her family, They are all aware of our relationship and have never seen their daughter so happy, I have the family's blessing to marry her in China 2013, If things go as planned, She will be coming to live here with me in Miami Florida late 2013 this year.
China was amazing, so different than the U.S., people were very nice and I never felt like I was in any danger, day or night.I did get many, many Hello or my favorite one{are you a basketball player} ;D China is a wonderful place to find a good wife .That's what I went there to do. I have not asked for sex or to “sleep with me” That is not why I was here for.

I just re-readied the thread I wrote and I see that I didn't write what I'm bring Xiaomei to the USA with. Xiaomei was on Yahoo messenger calling me before I preview my post.Robert,I will file out an I-130,I-485 and I-765 form with USCIS to receive a CR-1 visa not IR-1. I was going to apply for the Fiancee visa ( K-1) but when I look at the prices of both and other things, I believe the CR-1 is a little better. IR-1 require you to be marry more than 2 years when your foreign-citizen spouse immigrates to the U.S. Xiaomei and I been together 1 year two months.I was on Chnlove and things didn't work out for me but I read a member thread talking about Chnll{china love link}.I said what I have to loose by looking at it.And the rest was history!!!! :) :) :) :)
-
LP. As I read it your lady is in Hong Kong and not Mainland China. If that is correct then different rules apply in many cases. No need for you to get a visa to visit her is one. If this is the case then you need to read up on the regulations and laws as it applied to Hong Kong as they are a SAR, (Special Administrative Region) and they will not adopt China Laws entirely for a few more years yet.
Although I understand that you will have to go down the same line to get her into the USA.

The CR-1 visa does not require the I-485 or the I-765, the only form needed initially is the I-130 and the I-864. I am not sure who is telling you this info, but the 485 and 765 are filed when you are adjusting status from K-1 or K-3 visas. The K-3 visa is pretty much being phased out so if you marry in China you will most likely wind up with a CR-1 visa. There is other forms needed for the CR-1 process but they are not needed until your petition reaches NVC unless you file DCF in China which you can't because you have not been a legal resident there for the last 6 months. Regards, Robert
Here is the link to the Hong Kong Visa page, just follow these instructions to the letter. http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/iv_apply.html (http://hongkong.usconsulate.gov/iv_apply.html)

LP; does that stand for Lao Po??? :P
Welcome to the mix, you have gotten off to a wonderful start with Xiaomei. There is a lot of great information and members here who will give you any information and encouragement you need. Your story so far is SO much like a lot of other members here that there must almost be a standard China carbon copy machine somewhere and we all just stand in line and await our turn. Oh yeah pictures help tell your story, especially for the illiterate here like me.

Get started right.
Save every receipt from your travels. Retruants, hotel, plane tickets, fees to Chnlove.com
Save every chatt, instant message, etc.
Keep a daily diary. (who, what, where, why, when and how long)
Take thousands of photos.
This may sound excessive but when the time comes, every scrap of information that you have will be that much less that they will ask for later.
-
Willy, she is from [ Taishan city] Mainland China.
Robert you are right, the only form I need initially is the I-130 and the I-864. I wrote the wrong information down :o .Xiaomei is telling me also,I need to have a affidavit of unmarried status done in the U.S.but I'm telling her I really don't need this, all I have to bring is my divorce papers,U.S.passport,birth certificates and tax return and I can get the affidavit of unmarried status done in China. Is she right?

If you plan to marry in Hong Kong this is the form you need to complete and take to the US embassy to be notarized, you will most likely have to get it translated to Chinese also, after you get married she will need to get her civil documents translated into " Notarial White Books " to be used for immigration purposes. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hongkong/171363/acs/acs_marrymacau.pdf (http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hongkong/171363/acs/acs_marrymacau.pdf)

Robert ,Xiaomei and I planing to get marry in mainland China.
-
I would go ahead and get the 'Single' certificate in the USA. You may find that they will not accept it here, depending on the marriage office. But it will ease the lady's concern if you just get it. A quick trip to the marriage office and they will tell you if it is OK or not. They may even marry you on the spot. You need no witnesses as it is not like a marriage ceremony anywhere else it is just an administrative event!
It is a small price to pay when you consider the total cost in marrying in China and getting her to the USA.
Willy
-
Willy, my divorce papers is not enough?where do I get 'Single' certificate in the U.S.?
-
LP,
Willy is right about getting the certificate here being easier, I will give you a link where you can get it done. Like Willy also said if they don't accept it you can get it done at the local US embassy in China. You can print a draft of this affidavit and e-mail it to your soon to be wife. Have her take it to the marriage registration office to confirm they will accept it. The people at the company can also inform you which provinces accept their Affidavits of Single Status. http://www.visarite.com/SingleStatusAffidavit.htm (http://www.visarite.com/SingleStatusAffidavit.htm)
-
You will also need to get the papers translated into Chinese. Not sure about the divorce papers as I never had any need to get them translated but maybe other divorced men who married in China can tell you this.
Also make sure your lady goes to a marriage office in a city where they can marry foreigners to Chinese nationals. Not every city is able to do this. We were not able to marry in my wife's home town but had to go to Changsha. But that is better for you because they have a special offices for such marriages and you do not have to fight through the crowds where Chinese to Chinese marriages take place.

Here is the offical one provided by the US Embassy in Guangzhou. Fill it out and gtake it along with your divorce papers and $50 snd they will certify you as single and eligible to be married.

I'm not sure how to deal with this issue. Peggy keeps telling me that I need to get a single certificate in my city. I tell her no, all I need is my divorce papers and the affidavit of Marital Status that I get at the consulate in Guangzhou. Am I missing something here?
She is hooked on this 001 website and thinks it is gospel.
Hay Shaun!!! I said this almost word for word to Xiaomei. I like the part where you said I really love this woman but sometimes... To the moon Alice!!!!!! Xiaomei is the same
Thank Martin for link.
-
She is hooked on this 001 website and thinks it is gospel.
Get used to it. Chinese web pages...her Chinese friends...even online friends that she has never met, will likely know more (in her opinion) than you. Even when it comes to immigration. But a lot of the information she comes by won't always be accurate. But because it comes from a Chinese source, there will be no need for her to verify the accurateness of it...its right. haha
-
She likes 001, your immigration process will get real complicated and interesting now. Every friend or Chinese person that has received a visa is an authority on immigration now. ( even if they paid someone else to handle the process ) I do not know how many times people call me upset because their visa process is taken longer than their cousins visa did 3 years ago. It is extremely difficult to explain to them that the processing times are always changing, either speeding up or slowing down according to the work loads of each service center. My case took 6.5 months from the time I filed the I-130 until my wife was approved at Guangzhou, since our beloved obama implemented his executive order to allow all illegal aliens under the age of 31 to file for a 2 year amnesty program the immigration service centers have been flooded with applications for the 2 year anti-enforcement rewards and EAD applications so the illegal immigrants can legally work ( that should really be good news to the citizens and LEGAL residents who actually followed and obeyed the law and are currently un-employed), so there is no good method to determine actual processing times at this point. So all in all, you are fixing to learn how frustrating immigration can be, especially when you have to comply with every step that every friend executed ( even if it is not required or needed) You might as well get your family on-board with you because you will be told at some point that cousin Chang's 4th removed sister-in-law's American mother-in-law wrote an affidavit to the consulate about how her and her entire family and neighborhood was extremely happy that your wife/fiancee would be a family member and according to the 001 website and ALL the Chinese friends her visa will be denied without such an affidavit. So buckle up and enjoy the ride! ;) ;D :)
-
Robertt, your knowledge on Immigration exceeds all others.
I would think that your knowledge is likely to be higher than some in 'Yes and No' positions of Government DXepartsments.
I bet some of the Brits, Aussies and Kiwi's wish they had someone like you to call on for advice.

When Will These Obligations End?
Has worked, or can be credited with, 40 quarters of coverage under the Social Security Act;
Your obligations under a Form I-864 will end if the person who becomes a permanent resident based on a Form I-864 that
you signed:
Becomes subject to removal, but applies for and obtains in removal proceedings a new grant of adjustment of status,
based on a new affidavit of support, if one is required; or
Dies.
Note that divorce does not terminate your obligations under this Form I-864.
If you do not provide sufficient support to the person who becomes a permanent resident based on the Form I-864 that you
signed, that person may sue you for this support.
Your obligations under a Form I-864 also end if you die. Therefore, if you die, your Estate will not be required to take
responsibility for the person's support after your death. Your Estate may, however, be responsible for any support that
you owed before you died.Has everybody who is fast to get marry read this form Obligations say?

Willy,is that visa place in Hong Kong airport gave out Double entry for 30 day or it's a single entry for $ 130 U.S. for mainland China?

Willy,is that visa place in Hong Kong airport gave out Double entry for 30 day or it's a single entry for $ 130 U.S. for mainland China?
They issue a 3 month double entry visa for 1000 Hong Kong Dollars. That is around $130 US Dollars. If you get to it in morning they will issue same day.

Hi,guys!have anyone use American Airlines to Hong Kong? Are they good?
-
I flew Air Canada to Hong Kong once. It was the last time I'll fly Air Canada again. Compared to my regular carrier, they were unprofessional, the food was terrible, the in flight entertainment sucked.
I always fly Cathay Pacific. Pretty Chinese stewardesses. They are always professional. The food is decent as can be expected and there's always current movies available. Though, I hear Cathay Pacific will be striking soon.
-
I only fly Cathay Pacific and when the cabin staff heard that I could be flying this month they settled their claim and called off the strike!!!! 8)
I flew to the USA by American Airlines once. It was only once and never again.
Willy
-
I have flown Air China, Air Canada, & United. Never Cathay since it was usually always about $200.00 more for round trip. When I flew each 3 carriers, it was price that made me decide. Air Canada & United has had current movies while Air China was limited to only seeing what the whole cabin could see.
-
When booking through an agency like expedia or cheap-o air be sure to check the agreements between airlines. I have had really mad experiences with connections between airlines. Make us re to check. For instance Air china only has baggage agreements with major airlines. If you don't use united or American chances are you will need to collect you bags at the connection and recheck them at air china.
Also the Air China ticket counters in San Francisco close 45 minutes before boarding. If your connection arrives late it is just too bad you will not make the connection to China until the next flight which is probably tomorrow. Give yourself plent of time.
-
When booking I always go through cheap-o air and flychina . com. These agency have always book me on United. And I've always check the agreements between airlines Pineau. I've never had that problem "thank God"This week I was looking at booking my three trip to China to see Xiaomei. Now to find a reasonably airplane ticket ranging from $1200.00 to $1300.00.That's why I asked about American airline, their prices isn't bad.I'll be leaving next week and will be there a little over a month and than some. The main purpose is to be with my girl for her birthday this month, the Chinese new year and Valentine day.Oh,BTW her main purpose to see me come back is to put a ring on her finger. She want me to be off the single market,I've told her many time before, you and I aren't single any more but she is singing that beyonce song (Put A Ring On It) ;D ;D ;D ;D. Yes guys! ;D we'll get married while I am there.
-
Well enjoy your trip and good luck with traveling when you are here.
Chinese New Year is the time most want to be here because their lady has so much time off work in that two weeks. But it is not a good time for foreigners to be traveling around.
In most cities the scale of people at bus and train stations will be tremendous will more than 400 million people being on the move.

Just relaying my experiences. Good luck LP// I hope you get there and settled in before the great migration starts. There will be people everywhere. And then suddenly everyone disappears. It is Erie quiet just before new years, .
You really getting married this trip? Congratulations.
-
Pineau,I know you were relaying to your experiences.I wasn't getting back at you.You and the other guys have been a resource of information for me :) Last year, I when there for my first Chinese new year experience but I didn't get to see the great migration. But I did see it coming back home,it made me miss my connecting flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale >:(
Yes yes! I am really getting married on this trip :) :) :) :) :D :D.

Hi guys, has any one been summoned to serve as a juror in the Circuit Court on the middle of your departure to China.Today I got serve some paper to be on jury duty Feb 10 but I will be it China on this time and won't be back until 27 of Feb >:(.I have looked up the request to be excused and it said traveling isn't on the listed to be excused but I can reschedule my service .If they don't reschedule me how do I get out of this?
-
I had been summoned last year here in Lancaster and I always use the "Financial Hardship exuse" which I have for some years back, but this time... they "Made" you show up at the Court House and you will see the Judge himself with a lenghty speech for all in the waiting room (after about a three hour wait) only then you go to a window when called and state your request to be exused from duty. Which means you have too show up on the date on your paper, unless.. like you said (LP) reschedule. If you have to now do this in Person, you'll need to ask the Court House?
-
LP , take all your trip itinerary information , which will show that your plans were made well before the Whacko department requested your attendance , hey you may not have to vote , but they catch you on the merrygoround .
-
Here in Broward it's no big deal to pass on it. Send the request back with the excuse they will let you know if it's excepted or not. Or they may want you to show up there to show proof?
I went down to the court about a year ago. When signing in I realized my date was off, I was suppose to report the day before. Nothing was said. Sat through all the intro and a movie clip, assigned a case and later told an agreement was made so the case was dismissed? Won't get called again for jury duty for years.
-
Hi guys,do anyone know if there's going to be any cancel flights from Boston and New York to Hong Kong this week?I wanted to go last month but something came up so I'm trying to go this week and marry my gf
-
I'm not sure why you are thinking that flights might be canceled. If it is weather related I'd go now because flights could be canceled later this week because of the big storm heading east.
If you think flights would be canceled because of the federal government budget showdown at the sequester coral then the job losses won't happen until April if they don't reach an agreement.
-
Why fly by any American airline? I was once due to meet a friend in New York. I was flying by British airways he by AA. Both flights were postponed until the next day through really bad weather. His ticket entitled him to a cup of coffee and space on the floor at Heathrow terminal. I got a night in a quality hotel.
I paid no more for my ticket than him! So why do American carriers not offer this same service?
Willy
-
Willy,
I have been stranded 4 times while flying and each time i received a comp room from the
airlines. All you have to do is ask them. In fact 1 time when a hurricane it Texas i was stranded
at G.W.Bush Airport and they paid for the cab ride and room at the Homewood estates which was
20 miles away. Just ask and keep asking for their supervisor until you reach the one who will help you.
I only fly by airlines that accept the convention immediately without having to ask time and time again.

One question guys? Is there a Guangzhou hotel Sammy and I can stay in that is very close to the U.S. Embassy in Guangzhou? I plan to go there after our overnight stay in Hong Kong.My appointment at the Embassy is in the morning for my Single status affidavit.
-
LP, I think you are looking for the Consulate not the Embassy. They are in two different locations though I have heard they are close to each other. I've never been to the Embassy.
There are several hotel's across from the Consulate. Most are very expensive. I stayed at the Star Hotel which is very nice and 650RMB a night.
The last trip I stayed at the Shanshui Trends Hotel which is down the street in the Train Station. It cost 278RMB a night. It's not as nice but it will do.
-
Right next door to the Consulate. The owners are really nice and helpful and can assist with last minute details with immigrant interviews. I met the Yang's when my wife interviewed in Guangzhou. The rates are very reasonable also.

LP, just one thought I do not know if it was mentioned before or not but if you are going to Hong Kong and China and back and forth make sure you have a multi entry visa or you may find yourself stranded in Hong Kong.
-
what's the marriage Registration fee cost in China ?
-
In Guangzhou. it was a very small amount. about 20 RMB. + 200 RMB to translate to English/Chinese,
Photos were about 50 RMB. (THESE ARE PRICES IN 2010)
Photos can pay cash but the redbook and translation need to use a bank card.
Best to take a few hundred RMB plus your or her credit/debit card.
You probably know this but I will say it anyway.
Both of you need ID.
Get your single certificate from the USCIS . take it with you .
She needs to take her prior marriage book and divorce book.
She needs to take her red (household book).
-
Hi Guys..
I just got my Visa back today. It's good for one year. I am looking for ticket for China.I want to leave on the 22 of this month. So it's a go for my marry on the 28 of the this month..I get to marry my wife this month and enjoy the Chinese year and valentine's day at the same time :)
-
Another to join the flock. Hope your travel plans go well. Where are you going to be staying in China?
One other thing or rather two - you were talking in March about getting your single certificate. If you did get it any time before June 2013 then better check that it is still valid as they usually have a shelf life of just 6 months.
Also make sure that the chosen marriage office is able to person marriages for foreigners to Chinese nationals otherwise you may have to travel to another city.
Problem in traveling to China just before the New Year is that air line prices are at their highest.
Willy
-
Willy,it's not that bad going to China on Chinese new year.I did it in 2012.I didn't get caught up in the the great migration. ;D.I will be staying with her and the family. If everything work out as plan we will go to the Embassy in Guangzhou before it close and get my Single status affidavit.By the way I didn't get the single certificate that year,I cancel my appointment and try another time. You are right Willy, the problem in traveling to China just before the New Year is air line prices are at their highest :'(.Any last minute suggestions Guys..
-
LP good luck and best wishes. I think you will do alright just going to the consulate and getting the single certificate.
-
Ok guys I am leaving for China tomorrow morning.I will be there for 20 days.I have everything I need to get marry.Sammy have been waiting for this for three years. She had many family and friends tell I wasn't coming back to China and marry her.I guest they all well have eggs on their faces went this take place next week..
-
OK guys, I finish everything now. All we are doing now is the wedding photos. By the way, the single certificate is not the same as the one on Embassy website. I download the one on the website and use it but when I got there I had to use a different one in English and Chinese.
-
Finished everything.....I dont think so....lol ::)
-
??? finished ;D
This is only the beginning! Chapter 1 is done and there are many more Chapter's to fill your Book of Love. How many, thats up to you two and a handfull of un-expected details that like to cut your Book short.
