Title: Birth Announcement......!!!!
Post by: David E on June 16, 2011, 03:18:44 am
                                        David and Ming...Birth Announcement

David and Ming have great pleasure in announcing the arrival of a new addition to their family.

Ming was safely delivered of a healthy, happy Visa in Chengdu (China) on 16th June 2011

Both Mother and Visa are doing well.

The happy couple have decided to name their little bundle of joy…”309 – Temporary Resident, Spouse”.

Sincere acknowledgement is given for the many efforts from all concerned to ensure that the child was delivered safe and healthy.

In particular, our grateful thanks are sent to the following:

To the attending Midwife (The Australian Immigration Department) for helping to make the birth shorter than we were originally led to believe…180 days to be exact.

To Dr Charles Wu, Migration Attorney, for his meticulous attention and preparation of the necessary documents that made the easy birth possible.

To friends at the Chinalove.info Forum Hospital, without whose support, advice and companionship, the lengthy and sometimes tedious pregnancy of 24 months would have been much less easy to bear.

A very special mention for Drs Maxx, Martin and Arnold who skilfully helped Ming overcome a serious bout of religious bacteria (A particular rare and potentially lethal strain of “Unequally Yoked–itis”) late in the pregnancy, which at one stage seemed likely to result in a premature termination.

Without their skills and professional assistance it is difficult to see how the birth could have been concluded without major complications, but superior Medical knowledge and skills successfully dealt with the infection, and Mother was brought back to full health just in time for the birth.

The happy couple are now busily making plans for the homecoming, which if all goes well, should be within the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Finally, David and Ming request that no flowers are sent, instead interested persons may choose to make a donation to the China Lonely Hearts Foundation so that in some small way it may help those still in-waiting for their own happy event.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

IS IT A BOY OR GIRL????????

Congratulations to you both.  I expect you are both as happy can be.  In the acceptance email they send out, under the 309 grant PDF there is the web address for IOM (iom.int), Xia and I are using them for the plane ticket to come to Australia (hurry up Tuesday).  They give a discount and also let each family member migrating have a baggage allowance of 40kg instead of the usual 20.

The fare was about 200AUD cheaper to fly from Hong Kong to Sydney than advertised with Qantas.  Do not know what it will cost to fly to Perth though.  Worth a thought and to save on not having to pay exta $$$$ for luggage is a bonus.

Once again congratulations to you both.

That is absolutely great news.  I am extremely happy for the both of you.  Coddle that little Visa until it grows into full grown citizenship if that is what the two of you choose.

Thanks for all your good wishes guys....much appreciated.... ;D ;D

As you may imagine, the pace picks up about now, we are in a high frenzy preparation mode !!!

Target date for Ming to come to Perth is July 3rd and she has got a Heck of a lot to do before then !!!

As for me, I need to do a few minor things around the house, but its all about done already.

I am trying to persuade her to send many things by surface mail, so she does not have to be without any of her favourite stuff....but we struck a small problem when i told her she can send stuff "by sea"....she immediately responded..."no I cant, Chengdu has not sea " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....gotta love 'em dont you  ;D ;D

Neil...of course I want to keep in touch after "the event" because one of the most important topics here is from Arnold.."Qings arrival and beyond"....I dont think we have enough info published about "after visa" and I know Maxx and Martin caution us that after arrival, the "real " work of building a relationship starts....

I am sure that there will be many challenges after Ming gets here and for newbies to share in some of these issues is always useful (was for me anyway)

And if I might steal a few words from the Immortal Winston Churchill...

"This may not be the beginning of the end...but it is surely the end of the beginning" !!!

My only problem at the moment is devising a plan to prevent the bathroom becoming a laundry space every day for female undies !!!!!!...but I guess I will cope somehow

Cheers...David

ps...Willy

How am I ever going to explain to a Chinese woman that I must sit for 5 days in front of the Tele watching every ball of a cricket Test Match !!!....that is if ever an Australian Test Team can last for 5 days against anyone in the near future !!...but maybe "ponce" Clark can do a "(Kent) superman" trick and haul us out of the mire ????

Congratulations David,
you could write a book on the power of positive perserverance. Don't worry about women's underwear. If Ming is anything like my wife, neither women's nor men's underwear ever stays on the floor for more than a few seconds before they are whisked off to be handwashed, and hung up to dry. This is not a problem (unless you are wearing the aforementioned undies at the time).

Haha .. don't even try ! It's hanging there on a daily bases , so it's not only the water in the Shower that gets HOT ! :P

Title: Re: Birth Announcement......!!!!
Post by: David E on June 17, 2011, 04:16:39 am
Ok, Ok.....

The "undie" problem is a lot more complex that you all realise (with the exception of fellow Sandgropers)......

Here in Western Australia we are always short of water, we basically live in a desert and have low (and getting lower) annual rainfall.

We are hammered by our Govt. always to conserve water...and if we dont...it is bloody expensive !!!!

Most of us here have a habit of wearing clean undies every day (apart from a few Poms who change their undies and shower once a week... ;D ;D)  , and we save all our dirty clothes etc for a once a week journey in the washing machine......saves water.

I know that Chinese Women wash everything, every day, and somehow I will gently need to change this habit...or she will have to go out to work to pay for the water !!!

I also see in the hotel when we are together that Ming takes 10 minutes to clean her teeth...and leaves the tap running whilst she does it !!!

All of this "habit" pattern will need to be discussed...Heaven knows how that will go down !!! I tried to talk about it many times when we are together, but it is not possible for a Chinese mind to compute anything other than water comes out of a tap...forever, in unlimited quantities, for free....period !!!!

Groan........

David

Yes David, I understand, but it is her you have to convince, not us. Who's to say if in a few months' time she is not sitting by your pool with a washboard and a few friends, washing your smalls and chewing the cud, while you enjoy your nice big bubble bath?
Title: Re: Birth Announcement......!!!!
Post by: Jason B on June 17, 2011, 08:38:46 am
tell her the water is worse than in China, you can not just drink it straight away.  I told Xia that we drink the water straight from the tap as it is and she could not comprehend that we do not boil or filtrate water.  I am going to have to watch the usage as well as she is another 10 minute tap on full teeth washer too.

Philip...I have just developed a very large headache contemplating your theory......................along with washing lines full of laundry strung across my Courtyard like spiders webs !!!!!

Jase....maybe we should fill up some old empty water bottles and "pretend" that this is the only water we can use...tap water is too poisonous !!!...or would that be too deceitful... ::) ::)

The water problem is going to be a tough Nut to crack for you . I see Qing wash her personal's every single day of the year and let me tell you .. I am listening to the water run at 80% for .. what seems for an hour . Wash .. wash .. wash and then comes the Rinse which is even worse . I am surprised the colors don't come out of it all . I just safe what "I" can , so she can do what she does . I learned how to life with it .

Great thread, love the camaraderie on this website. Congratulations David.

Peter, I didn't know there was a best side of Australia? I suppose it is all relative though.

As Rob Muldoon (ex NZ PM, 75-84) said; the influx of New Zealanders into Australia has risen the IQ level on both sides of the Tasman.
Title: Re: Birth Announcement......!!!!
Post by: David E on June 20, 2011, 04:12:57 am
No Peter, I dont have any Chinese friends here, but Ming has been corresponding by email with quite a few Chinese Women in Perth who originally came from her home Town of Chengdu.

She plans to meet up with them once she gets here.

Although some of the stuff they talk about is basically clinging desperately to their previous life and I hope this does not get in the way of Ming's sucessful integration into Australian life, customs and culture.

Regretfully, there are some parts of her previous life that will need to be forgotten because many things here are different.....but softly, softly catchee mousee !!!!!

They all tell her about the real cheap meat and vegies at the Canningvale Markets...and I would never buy anything from there...it is all second and third grade rubbish which the Perth Chinese people fight over !!!

They also told her to bring many, many clothes, shoes etc etc because she will never find anything of her size in the shops...bull sh#t !!!

So although I support any interaction she has with Chinese women when she arrives, I know that they will tend to feed her rubbish and I dont want her confused by their "half-truths"

Once she's had a few barbies and a couple of coldies...I am sure she will be OK   ;D ;D ;D

David, Tell me how successful you are at getting her drunk at a barbie. I would love to see that. I guess because they are so shy and conservative, Chinese ladies would be funny to see let loose. I admire your optimism and had a great laugh at your strategy,
Peter

Small Update

Ming has booked her ticket and leaves Chengdu on July 3rd at 5.00 pm. She will arrive in Perth (via Singapore) at 0630 on 4th July...and what a red-letter day that will be...it seems such a long time of waiting, but now it is nearly over !!

The Chengdu Post Office is sending some people round to her apartment today...she just points out which items need packing and they put them into surface pack containers and send them off...I cant see our Post Office doing anything like that !!

FYI...she made enquiries about the IOM assisted Migrant flights and found out that all airlines will grant a first time migrant a baggage allowance of 40 kilos. She needed to show her Aus. visa to the airline and was granted 40 kilos with S'pore Airlines......I dont know if this applies to all countries...but worth checking out....so now she has decided to bring her golf clubs with her as part of her baggage !!!!!!!!

She has never played a round of golf in her life (too expensive) but has done a lot of driving on the driving range. When I bought my home there was a complimentary membership of the Golf Club that backs onto the house...so she can play on a real golf course for free....probably I will become a golf-widower  :( :(

Last job she has is to sell her car....we plan to put the proceeds into her Chinese Pension fund, which will represent about 5 years contributions........if all goes pear- shaped in that time, she will have her Chinese pension for the future. If we are still in married bliss after 5 years, she will be an Aus Citizen and will get the Aus Pension if she needs it.

As they say...P.P.P.P.P.....

ps...Peter.....one sip of my home-made beer and she will be fuly relaxed  ;D ;D ;D

Today is the Day. Hope all goes well in Perth.

Remember big breathes and do not get too excited.

And enjoy the moment your wifes steps foot on Aussie soil.

I know that you will be waiting with baited breathe.

At least us Pommies have removed any possible conflicts.  Like Airport? or Cricket Ground? Cricket Ground or Airport?

Perth? I think it is ok and I hear your neighbours are only 5 miles from you. But if they listen carefully they will hear you celebrating tonight!

Phew !!!!....just came up for air after a whirlwind couple of days....life sure has changed in such a short time...cant stop smiling  ;D ;D

I waited in Perth Airport in 2 degree cold...most unusual for Perth...her flight landed at 6.25 am.

She walked out of Customs at 7.00 am and for both of us it was the most best feeling !!

Customs allowed her to bring in about 20 kilos of assorted Chinese Medicines (I think they all arrive weighed down with medicine, maybe they think we still use witchcraft here ?) The flight from Chengdu to Singapore was delayed by weather and she was worried that she might miss the connection to Perth, but she managed to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 in Singapore and clear all the formalities in time.

The drive home was a blur...babbling away and feeling on top of the World. After so many visits to Chengdu, it was really good to see her on my home turf and to show off some of our beautiful City.

She immediately set to unpacking and putting away her stuff once we got home...the Chinese mind at work. For me, I would have just put my feet up and crashed for a few hours...but I got overuled, she insisted all clothing was neatly put away in its proper place and everything sorted...immediately...ho hum...lesson No. 1 for me !!!!

Then she dived in the shower and after the process went to the kitchen and made us a cup of tea !!!....just like she had been there forever...amazing !!!

Now we have begun the familiarisation process....all the gadgets in the home, how to work this and that and there are Chinese "post-it notes" all over the house...it is very charming  ;D ;D...as of yet, no laundry in the bathroom...but that will come I'm sure.!!

The Sun was getting through about lunchtime so she had a nap on the swing seat beside the Pool in the afternoon and I got time to get my breath back.

We had a lovely dinner together, I cooked Thai food which she loves and after we had a QQ session with friends and family in Chengdu, just to let them know that she arrived safely and was happy.

Sorry that my post is all about trivia guys, there are no major happenings or issues to report...at these early days it is just happiness all the way, just to be together in our own home, with no deadline looming like it always was in our previous times together.

This ,so far is all that I hoped and dreamed it could be.

Talk again soon

David good update. You and your wife are on the right track so far.Just keep at it.And it should be ok.

The reason your wife brought all the medicine. Is somebody on the enternet told your wife Aussie Medicine is no good.My wife thought the same way about American medicine. When she came to the states. She didn't trust any of the medicines.Or the doctors. She brought a bunch of her own medicines. And wouldn't touch anything else. Then when she got pregnant with are oldest kid.I took her to the doctor. She about ripped my head off after the first doctors appointment.By the time the first baby was born.My wife was convinced. that America has the best medical services in the world. With the best medicines. Now everytime we go to China. We have a long list of medicines along with vitamines. That we need to take to China. To pass out to family and friends.

Both Kids were sick while they were in China. last month they both had coughs and were weezing like chain smokers. We took them to the doctors. All the time we were at the hospital my wife whined about how bad Chinese medicine was.And how bad the doctors are. When she and the kids returned to the states. She had me make both of them doctor appointments. To make sure they were ok.And the Chinese doctors hadn't messed them up permanently.

So there attitudes do change.I think you will be surprised. What you will find out in the next six months.About how your wife really feels about China. And what she really thinks about Australia. My wife's loves China. But only because that is where she was born. And where her family lives. If her family lived in the states. She would probably never go back to China.

My wife has told me more then a dozen times she doesn't want to live in China. And try to raise a family there. She would rather live in the United States.Just because the quality of life is so much better. And the number of people in any area is so much less. She doesn't have people living in a house bellow her.Or a apartment above her.The closest neighbor is probably 40 yards away. She has a 3 bedroom 2 bath house setting on 3/4 of a acre of land. And she thinks it's just grand. It has heat and A/C and running water. That she doesn't have to boil before she drinks it.She doesn't have to push her way threw croweds to go somewhere.Or to see something she wants to look at.She doesn't have to walk 3 blocks to catch the bus.Or change buses three times just to go somewhere. She just tells me where she wants to go.And we grab the kids and jump in the truck and just go.

My wife wanted me to put up a set of lines. So that she could hang the clothes out to dry.I just laughed and told her the wind would just blow dirt all over her clean clothes. She didn't believe me until she seen her first sand storm. With the wind cranking up to fifty mph. Then she told me not to worry about the clothes line. She decided using the clothes dryer was much easier and a lot less work.

The real adventure does start for you and your wife.As she learns to live with you.You will also learn to live with her.And remember if it isn't the end of the world. And nobody is going to get hurt. And it isn't going to cost you six months worth of wages. It probably isn't worth arguing about.

Good luck and best wishes for you and your lovely wife.
Maxx

You know what David...Sometime words are just not enough. There is nothing I can say that has not already been said.

Please believe me when I say this...But the news that Ming has finally arrived in your home  makes me very happy for you both..

Good luck and God bless you both... :D :D

Good Luck to you David and Ming, it sounds like you've put a smile on a lot of faces, including mine,I have gone over in my mind a thousand times the arrival of my wife to Adelaide and reading you and Max's comments puts a huge smile on my face because you description is just like i imagined.
I am particularly interested in Max's post , your description Max of your place sounds similar to here so it is interesting to hear how your wife has settled in to your way of life.  How does your wife handle a dust storm? it's not some thing you see much of in Shenzhen.
David, it doesn't matter to me how insignificant you think your updates might be , I read them with great interest and find that it IS the little things that i am interested in
I'd just like to thank all you blokes who already have your wife's with you for taking the time to inform us others about life after your wife's arrival.
Cheers

Great news David.  I am happy for the both of you.   Keep the trivial and the exciting coming in; with pictures of course.

Maxx, Gee it's been years since I've been in a dust storm.  We had a dust devil a couple of weeks ago in Georgia.  It brought back warm memories of my childhood.  People have no idea what you mean when you say dust storm.

Thanks for all your good wishes guys..it is much appreciated.

Maxx, you are exactly right about medicine.

She showed me the internet site where many, many Chinese Women who have migrated, are waiting to migrate or are hoping to migrate....all with foreign husbands.

She read many of their emails to me (translated of course) and what a lot of rubbish and mis-information most of them have about life in the Western World.

The real complaint about medicines was that it it too expensive to see Western Doctors and often they wont give medicine for simple illnesses (I explained about the rampant usage of anti-biotics and the developing resistance issue, but that was water off a ducks back !!)...so they bring many "cheap" medicines they can get in China...but I am yet to be convinced that their medicine can cure anything !!!, probably they mostly are reinforcements for natural body immunity. But as you can imagine, such subjects are difficut to discuss at our current level of English interaction !!!...so I quickly got the habit of "yes Honey"...eat whatever Chinese Medicines you like...and I will try it too.... :-\ :-\

Mings first impressions and comments...:

The air is so clear and clean, she can feel it going all the way into her body
Why are there not cars beeping their horns 24/7...it is very quiet
Soft beds are something hidden from the average Chinese person in China...why dont they have soft beds...sleeping like a baby for 10 hours !!
Electric blankets are a gift from the Gods !!!!!!!!!!!
I dont eat enough food and I must eat more
I drink too much coffee and must change to tea
Why dont I boil water before drinking it !!!
Dishwashers are suspicious things...dishes should be washed IMMEDIATELY after use.............had a bit of an intense discussion about that one !!!!!

On day 3 she went round the garden and within 3 hours there was not a dead leaf or a weed in sight........miraculous.

Interesting...I have an automatic hot water system, you just dial in the temperature you need for a bath, or a shower or whatever and turn on the hot tap...the water comes through at the selected temperature......this caused great confusion....I like to shower at 42 degrees C...and after much adjusting Ming decided that she preferred 50 degrees C...WOW, that would cook me !!!

I will process some photos of Her Majesty in her new Kindom at the weekend and post soonest

Again, more trivia guys, sorry........but these little things gently happening each day, with love and laughter between us are exactly what we both want and planned........

I find it very easy to adjust some of my thinking and habits to accommodate such a lovely Woman.............never thought I would ever say that !!!!!!

Cheers...David

Funny , your" Ming's first impressions " it is great to see them put onto paper promptly , as these are also the very things that Sujuan can also still say , I am allowed to run the dishwasher 2 times a week now ha ha , but one tends to forget these little differences that raise up , they seem to fit more into their days than I ever could , regards Sujuan and Robert .

my wife will wash the dishes by hand. Then put them into the dishwasher. And let the dishwasher wash them again.I asked her one time. Why she did this. She said it is because they are now sanitized.I told her she didn't need to wash the dishes first. She says yes yo do.They no sanitize until you wash first. then put them in the dishwasher.

So I understood her to mean. That the dishes wouldn't get clean.Until she washed them first. Then ran them threw the dishwasher.I dropped the subject after that.It just wasn't worth going into deep discusion about it.

My wife learned the word sanitize off of a Chinese TV.That has a daily English program. The funny thing about this program is that they are using actors and actresses. That look and sound like they are from The UK.But they are using the words in the wrong context. And it really confuses my wife when I tell her she is using the word wrong. So I think she has stopped watching. And switched to watching cartoons with the boys. Her English has improved allot since she started watching cartoons with the kids.

Her English has improved allot since she started watching cartoons with the kids.

Just a quick note on what Maxx said.  I have a friend whose wife is a nurse at the VA Hospital. She works with a man that came to the U.S from Korea.  He told her he did not know any English at all when he arrived. And learned a great deal from watching only cartoons. I have already given Lili some links on computer, so she can start watching cartoons.  Hopefully it will help her.  Who knew cartoons could be such a learning tool.

And David E., congrats to you and Ming!  I enjoy reading your updates. Keep'em coming. :)

Hi Guys

Sorry if this post gets a bit long -winded, but I had to share it with you all......!!

All Mings family and friends have Iphone 4's, and Ming suggested that we should get one each, she can speak and have video with all her friends and family in China, and she and I can keep in touch when I am at work...all for free on Skype or QQ.

So....bright and early on Sat morning, we trecked off to the Apple Shop in Perth...there is only 1 Apple shop here, so I guess they have a monopoly ....bad start !!!!!

We stood waiting for 40 minutes for some attention, and eventually a pimply-faced child (looked about 9 years old to me !!) sloped over and said.."Whhaddya want Mate"

Firstly, I felt the need to explain that I never was, could never be, was not the slightest bit interested in being his mate or anything else, and could we get some service here because we wanted to buy 2 phones......

We were directed to a queue...and waited again for 30 minutes, and were approached by another child (probably just out of diapers) who seemed to be a bit put out having to explain phone technology to a wrinkly like me...( I should point out here that my existing phone only makes phone calls, does not do anything else and is just within my technical capabilites)....I was bombarded with "Apps, 3G, MB, wifi and many other nysterious doings and was developing:

A) A headache
B) A deep loathing of phones and child phone sellers.

Meanwhile, Ming was getting "that look"...which to me signals that her "shitometer" has hit red-line and somebody is going to cop it big-time !!!!

Having now got a real bad headache and struggling to decide which bloody phone to buy, I caved in and pointed at the most expensive version, on the asumption that this farce should not continue much longer...the child seller had no more work to "up-sell ' me !!!!

Having got, and paid for these technological monsters, we were directed to yet ANOTHER queue, where we were told we must wait in line to get the phones "synched"...no, dont ask me what that was for...dont have a clue. This process involved many mumbo jumbos betwen phone and computer and many foreign words being exchanged to worship whatever phone Gods live inside these things. Ming was now very agitated...and frustrated because she wanted to let rip, but her English was not good enough to properly express what she was going to do to these clowns who did not understand the meaning of service...as she said to me "In China we would be fighting off the multitude of knowlegable shop assistants and if she wanted an Iphone in Chengdu, she would never take more than 30 minutes for the whole deal !!

I patiently explained that "this is how things are in Aus,,,just relax, it will soon be over.........

But no........it continues........the next queue was to get the phone to do something else which involved going into "Itunes"...I explained that I NEVER wanted to use my phone for music, I have a hi-fi at home for that...but apparently Itunes has something else to do with set-up processes.

AND THANK ALL THE LUCKY COINCIDENCES ON THE PLANET....the "pimply" in the Itunes department was a Chinese boy..................

So Ming asked politely..."do you speak Chinese"...to which pimply responded with a condescending and superior air..."of course I do"...that was his biggest mistake of the week......

So then she simply blew a fuse and went for it...........I have never heard anything like it, and neither had all the people in the shop !!!! in no time flat, a large crowd had gathered to watch this performance as my pocket rocket tore this guy to pieces...he was reeling and blubbering and blustering at the impact of it............I of course, in complete support of my LP had slunk off to a corner, found a seat and watched the drama develop........brave Man me !!!!!

The whole thing attracted the Shop Manager (luckily he was a mature adult of about 18 years, but he was not Chinese so could not really make any contribution to the issue, instead he just told the Chinese pimply to go to the staff room and took Ming over to another counter......where he tried to placate her with several free gifts...Iphone case, quality ear phones and probably would have given her his car just to shut her up.

What really tickled me was at the end of it all, the whole set of bystanders broke into a round of applause for my LP..........gotta love 'em dont you !!!!!....

Total time to buy 2 Iphones...4 hours 28 minutes............

ps...I have probably been a bit too critical of Iphone 4....so I take it all back, I have just bought 2 "Apps" for $1....one turns the phone into a neat spirit-level and the other turns it into a "Dirty Harry" long barrelled colt .45....so I can  now use my "other" phone for phone calls and chuck this monster in my tool-box....I can get exact levels on my building projects, and if I ever get accosted by a bad guy I can point the phone at him and say "Well do you feel lucky Punk "  ;D

Well.....we have been together coming on 3 weeks now, a lot of water under that bridge !!!

My LP is very pleased and happy with her new situation, loves the home, the air and the family.

She is also very pleased at how well my training programme is progressing and she tells me I am well on the way to becoming a "real" person  ;D ;D

I thought I would give a few tips and tricks I have been learning...may help some others embarking on this journey....in fact, sometime down the track I will probably write a book about it all...:

1) Immediately on waking in the morning it is necessary for good health to drink a large glass of hot salty water.......my Doc could possibly be in conflict with this advice...but what would he know !!
2) If your bare feet touch the ground...you will die
3) If you wear any clothes that have touched the ground.....you will die
4) Pleasant tasting Western Medicine and easy to swallow pills and capsules dont work. For any medicine to do you good it must be foul smelling and evil tasting
5) Mens clothes over 3 years old must be turned into rags because they are unhygenic, smelly and "not beautiful"
6) On the other hand, womens clothes have a life expectancy beyond 200 years
7) Cats and domestic pets should be fed with one teaspoon of boiled rice per day and be grateful that they get fed anything at all
8) Dont ever sit down for 30 minutes after a big meal...if you do you will get a big bum...just look at all the Western Women
9) Microwave cookers are really nuclear reactors and Chinese people dont eat radioactive food
10) There is no such thing as yummy food left-overs to put in the fridge and eaten tomorrow. Eat it all today...even if it chokes you.
11) Underwear and personals can never be exposed to daylight after washing, ...or you will die when you wear them. They must be dried indoors in a bathroom
12) Beautiful, manicured lawns are a waste of good vegetable growing space
13) Anything planted in the garden that is not edible is a waste of time and "not beautiful"....sob...there goes my Camellias, Gardenias, Roses and Magnolias

I am sure there will be many more learnings for me as I learn to live with my Chinese Princess.......at least that what she is threatening !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers...David

Dear David, That is one mean little pocket rocket you have acquired. I glad to see someone is sorting out the inefficiencies in our retail stores.
I am not sure that anyone can help you at the moment, as it seems you are riding the rapids, so maybe the river will widen and slow down soon. I do agree with some of her points regarding microwave ovens and wasted lawn space.
Thanks so much for relaying your life so far. Hope you can keep your sanity and sense of humor! There will certainly be a book in it.
I just read all of the questions that were asked at Ming's interview. Very helpful to know, so thanks once again for your insights and information,
Peter

David, love the updates.

I got my wife an I phone day after our wedding.  We got the free Google translator app and it has been a great little tool for when we are out and about.  We have the same pimple face kids working in the apple tree here, but my saving grace was that I took my youngest daughter along and she was able to translate our needs to the kids.

Figured out the clothes bit.  All my old clothes have been given to the "Goodwill store".  It seems that my choice of color and style are not matching her wants and wishes.   My saving grace is that when she says that I have no brain to make good choice,  I tell her that " i chose her and i am very happy with that choice "  only to have her respond,  that she did the choice and choosing and that i was lucky and should never forget.

Love the salt water, and we have been here long enough that we are out of the wonderful "china medicine" that my dear retired doctor brought.

take, care,  buzz

China bound...

Yes, I am truly convinced Ming is happy in her new home /Country, today marks our first month together....and its all good  ;D ;D

The pool has limestone header flagstones and all the paving is in real bricks. I would not tackle something this big myself, it was all done by an Italian Stone-mason as part of the complete pool package. He was a real old-style craftsman and the final result is perfect, the cut-outs around the pillars was so good, you could not get a cigarette paper into the joints !!!

I am told that my training program is slowly turning me into a real person, now that I am getting used to the Chinese way of doing things   ;D ;D

Maybe sometime in the next few years I will be able to join the human race !!!!

There are a few more "little learnings" that I should share with you as you journey into a relationship with a Chinese Woman.....

1) Boiled eggs with yummy , runny yolks are poisonous......boiled eggs must be cooked 'till they resemble cannon-balls...then they are safe to eat.
2) All those things that guys need "in case"...bits of string, wire, nuts, bolts, screws, washers etc etc are junk and must be thrown out immediately
3) All those things that she needs....bottles, tins, plastic bags, envelopes, newspapers, must be kept in every corner of the house because they are essential to the future  of mankind.
4) Sneaking the odd prawn to the cat as a treat is a Capital offence and will be punished by withdrawal of hugs, kisses and sexual favours for 48 hours.
5) At "that time of the Month" both of us can only drink hot milk...coffee, tea and such are banned.......dunno why...because I HATE hot milk !!!
6) The cleaning lady we have is a cheat...and must be followed around constantly to ensure that we get our money's worth..........next find a new cleaning lady....the one we had did not like this one bit
7) Allow 4 hours at the Supermarket to buy the weekly groceries...everything must be microscopically scrutinised for blemishes and all shelves must be investigated to find the longest expiry date.
8) All Supermarket checkout chicks are cheats and must be closely supervised as they scan and weigh the merchandise we buy......2 or 3 check weighings of vegetables are necessary....next find a different
Supermarket...security gets twitchy at such attention !!!
9) Wait until the cash vending terminal is free of people....if other people are around, they will see your PIN number and steal your money....be prepared for looooong waits !!!
10)If your eyes deviate one millimetre towards another woman....you will loose hugs, kisses and sexual favours for 48 hours...even if she is fat and ugly.

Finally...

1) If you cant handle a fantastic massage every day, dont marry a Chinese woman
2) If you cant handle being spoiled to death every day, dont marry a Chinese woman
3) If you cant handle the household being run like clockwork with eveything taken care of without fuss and bother, dont marry a Chinese woman

What a life...couldn't be better  ;D ;D ;D

Funny it has been no hardest ship in this summers really hot weather.
