but it really bothered me how much control this woman was having on my new life with my wife.
I see where this is NOT for any Relationship, but... but will she have this control ones your lovely Wife is in the States with you? I would think NOT. So this is where your experience of the former In-law can keep you calm and not let this get out of your hands. There is always a reason for passed life experiences to be useful later. You and I know, who's really in control!
-
Dont give it the slightest worry Mike.....My Mother in Law feels the same about me !!, but my Father in Law is a treasure and we get on extremely well.
When in China, Ming, ( and Jessica) must by neccesity pay all the correct attention to Mother that their culture demands. So while you are there, Jessica walks a tightrope !!!
But once she is in US, all will be well.
You see, Jessica has already made her decision fo her long term future happiness....and you got the prize....nothing can change that.
This interim phase is just that...interim.
We are now looking forward to Ming's Dad's visit to Aus in July...but Mother refuses to come. Dad says he dont care, he is coming anyway !!!
Dont sweat the small stuff ;D ;D ;D

You have to look at things from Momma's eyes. An American comes over and now she is losing her daughter(and probably her closest friend) and grand child. Momma might not ever like you, but if you treat her daughter and grand daughter right she'll have no choice but to respect you.

Congrats Mike,
I know you are happy that this journey is nearing an end, and you will soon begin another hopefully happier journey together here in the United States. :) Best Wishes, Robert
-
Quickly Mike, we want to know more.
-
You sure do like to be suspenseful! I can't wait for the next post. MIKE...WHERE ARE YOU???
-
LOL .... in NY ..... not in China .... this all happened 4 months ago ;D
Ahhhh.. so we are reading OLD news.. mmmmmh?
Well , old news is better than NO news and I enjoy reading and seeing wonderful Photo's attached makes it special indeed. So please keep it up with the old stuff and don't forget to throw some NEW stuff our way sometimes too. ;D

Liking the story mate..congrats
-
Brings back good memories! Qing and I walked this place many times while in GZ. There is that little Restaurant right there where the Buses stop and that overlooks the wonderful Park by the Waterfall.
-
Mate,
This is great reading, but at this rate I'm going to be back from GZ by the time I get to the end of your story...
And maybe I'll miss out on some important info. I sit glued to the computer awaiting the next enthrawling episode...

Same thing with Linda, passed the interview but needed a police report from Korea. More time, money and another trip to Guangzhou.
Seems like whenever you make a couple steps forward you have to take one step backward. It is worth it in the end though Mike.
By the way, I enjoy the photos

Let me tell you what the word CONFUSION is ....
Confusion is when an American walks into the Japan Embassy in the middle of China!
Let me guess....... Sushi Q ......fusing?
Thanks for the pictures and story.... very entertaining and I am happy for you success.

I've had passed this church on Shamian when I was there, but didn't go inside. I also had never eaten at Bruce Lee's. I am really enjoying your story Mike!
-
Bruce lee's are all over China.I can't remember the real name of the restraunt chain. It isn't Bruce Lee.But I do remember the food was good.
-
The name is zheng kung fu (real kung fu)
-
that's right the Kung Fu joint. There is also one in the Sydney Chinatown here. First time we went past it I thought it was a karate or kung fu school with all the Bruce Lee and martial arts stuff. But Xia will not eat fast food Chinese or otherwise so we did not go in.
-
I would have liked to get a meeting that time with you Mike but things worked against me. Mind you I had kept quiet all this time about your trip!!!
By the way My Church Choir is bigger than yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In China? Ohhh... this could be almost normal to Chinese Men
Here? You dirty old Man!!!!
Man, your Story telling is great (keeps one bitting nails) and wondering the next step of "Your" hair-pulling ordeal.
-
Great account Mike, I'm hanging on every word, cant wait for the next instalment!
-
I have nothing else to post ...
And I always thought that the Post Man always rang twice!
Sorry to hear of your Mothers passing, and yes you have had quite a whirlwind of events transpire in such a short time frame.
Let us hope the next RING is your wife ringing the doorbell. My best Wishes for you and your wife Mike.
