Title: Help with I-864 form - what is current income?
Post by: Irishman on January 05, 2014, 05:45:39 pm
Hi guys,

My wife and I are trying to help an American guy, who married a Chinese girl, with his documents.
We are a bit stuck on the I-864 - "Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act" form

It asks in "Part 6  Sponsers Income and Employment"question 5 - "My current annual individual income is" ?

He has his own business so on his 1040 tax return last year he has one bigger number on line 41 total income (or loss) and a smaller number on line 37 (adjusted gross income).
Which one of the two should he use, or something else, what do you figure?

Any advice from American guys really appreciated!

I'm sure Robertt can, and will, help you with this.  I'm not even going to try to answer, since I'm pretty clueless about filling out these forms.

That sounds like good advice, thank you very much Robert!
We are find it a bit like wading through molasses trying to figure out all the documentation needed but fingers crossed it will work out in the end!
