i am about ready to leave for guangzhou next week and i was
wondering are they checking for the swine flu or whatever else
in both hong kong and guangzhou when i arrive in both places.
i am flying from san francisco to hong kong to guangzhou. any
body hear anything on this?
ted
i think i am getting a headache from all the preparation to leave to live in guangzhou
-
They will in both places. Its pretty simple, you just fill in a form after you disembark the plane, then go through a screening area which has thermal camera's on you. Ad's about 10-20 mins to checking out time but in both Beijing and Tianjin airports it was pretty efficient (i just got back on Monday so this is a recent experience), so no reason to think Guangzhou or HK will be any different.
I only saw one person nabbed, and that was out of literally hundreds going though in Beijing. That was a little kid that wasn't coughing or sneezing either.
I was totally stressing out about it beforehand for no need. Don't sweat it, its very unlikely its going to be a problem for you.
Just one thing, they do want a phone number on the form of a contact in China.
If you don't know your ladies phone number just put your hotels reception number would be my advice. They are very careful about checking out the H1N1 forms so if you leave this out they will kick up a fuss.

I cannot speak to Hong Kong, but in Beijing I was not even looked at twice. Easiest entrance into any country I had. I did get my temperature taken in Seoul. I have been hearing that they are getting easier now. There is nothing in the China Post about it either. (China Post publishes an English language version of the paper.)

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. the reason i was
concerned was because i was i lifetime smoker up
until this past May. and sometimes i get that cough
from i guess all the years off smoking and i am
thinking i get that while i am standing in line and boom
off i go to quarantine. but if they do temps i guess i will
be ok then. just had my yearly and got a clean bill of health
with the exception--- lose weight---- hahahaha

I had a pretty good headache when I landed in Hong Kong and I felt like I had a fever. I was pretty worried but passed through cameras twice with no problems.
-
Have been through the screening twice. Each time they stick a thermometer under my arm and fillout the form. I get speciasl attention as i am usually the only foreigner arriving at the Zhuhai port.
Sorry no jokes today - a liitle boy drowned in the swimming pool immediately outside my apartment. Yesterday - only heard about it when the parents and about thirty family members came to the pool and set up a shrine and began the grieving process.
Very moving and very sad.

Its always sad and painful when a child dies
-
I agree no parent should have to bury their child
so so sad
-
It is very sad.The lose of a life. That has not yet really begun the journey.

That is awful . It is the number one Child killer in the states I've heard . It only takes a minute of not being supervised and their you go .
Very sad indeed . It doesn't matter who's child it is , it's alway's hard to hear .
