Title: Zuoyuezi
Post by: Jadams79 on March 27, 2009, 11:22:27 pm
Something my girl introduced me to a few days ago, basically translates setting out a month.  A custom I had never heard of, basically the concept is after birth the mother can only eat certain things, is unallowed to wash her hair, not drink/eat or touch cold things .  Supposedly it is a treatment to deal with Postpartum depression, enhance breast feeding, general care of the child and recover from child birth.  But thought I would throw it out there for you guys.
Westerners Experience http://www.squidoo.com/zuoyuezi
 Cultural website http://ethnomed.org/ethnomed/cultures/chinese/chinese_cp.html

Several western studies showed mixed psychological results and various good and bad things.  Have not had a lot of time to do more research.
