FINALLY! Made it to China
« on: July 24, 2011, 09:55:08 am »
After so many false starts, I have finally made it to china. My TingTing was worth the trip since she is the perfect woman for me.

Still looking for work but now that internet is connected, that shouldnt be too much of a problem ( i hope ).

I am excited to be here.

Glad you are finally there.  As Vince asks, where are you in China and please tell us a little of your adventure if you can.

Congrats on finally getting there, I know my first trip got delayed multiple times. No matter the difficulty involved, it did lead to the occurrence of more and more joyful memories.

Enjoy it and don't shy away from the experience.

I am in Beijing in the Chao Yang District.

You know, I should start a blog about my adventures here. Since I am starting my third day and it HAS been adventure each day... from tryin gto open a bank account to the HEAT!!!!

My Ting told me that i came on days or almost record breaking heat, and for a United States Wisconsin boy.. I am not really used to anything over 30 C... and the past few days have been 35-36!! WHEW!!!!

Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts. I hope to experience as much as I can. Also, if anyone is reading this that hasn't gone or is thinking about it... DO IT!!!  You will be glad you did.

I also want to point out that  so many people on this very forum gave me good advice and helped me greatly. Too many to name but Mikkie and Paul are two of the main ones.

Thanks

Just a thought Axiom.

If you have no definate job then what about the work visa.

As I understand it you need to leave the country to apply for one.  Not being a worker myself and living here on the generosity of the Chinese Gov. I may be wrong.

Well, someone helped me out with a business visa so it allows me to stay here for 6 months. From what I understand its easy (but will cost) to switch it to a work visa.

The cost is not so high for a legit employer (it can pose a problem if ur hired through a vendor because they dont want to get involved in this process), its the paper work and the hassle with the labour office thats a pain in the arse when converting ;) Ive been there so i know. ;)

Anyway, will invite you for some BBQ´d sheep testicles soon (under the false pretention ur actually eating something else ;) )
