I am with David.

I tried to get into the British High Commision in Lagos but was prevented by a Nigerian gateman who would not let me through without an appointment.   I thought these Embassies were supposed to be a place of safety!!   Mind you I think Lagos has the largest number of Visa applications of any British Embassy in the world but I would have thought that the gateman could see that I was not a 'local'.

The UK policy appears to be stop as many people coming in from Asia and Africa and this will stem the number of illegal immigrants.  But it causes major problems for the genuine cases.

After a 12 week fight got an email yesterday that says her visa has been approved in principle

There are a few more hoops to jump through but they are easy like please send the passport to us ( oh they have that already lol)

I m not sure what changed there mind in the end and I m sure that we will never know
But all I can say I am over the moon and will be more so when I can see that blue sticker in the passport and her smile when I get to the airport

Well now all the waiting is almost over and she should be here on Monday
I still can't believe it
She ended up with a visa good for 9 months and they waived the need to have a return ticket and also to prove that she had any funds
So after that time we will be deciding what we are going to do but at least we have a good amount of time to work it out
