Found this on the US Embassy  Guangzhou website.

Where have we heard warnings of similar event - on this forum of course.

Marriage Fraud Against U.S. Citizens

The Consulate has received some reports of fraud committed against U.S. citizens by Internet correspondents from China professing romantic interest.  In many of these cases, the Chinese national has hired a company to communicate with the American citizen for him/her, meaning that s/he has not actually written any of the e-mails that were sent to the American.  Likewise, the American citizen may unwittingly carry on telephone conversations with a paid consultant posing as the romantic interest.  The business models of many of these companies are reliant on the American citizen ultimately paying extremely high “consulting” fees—often the Chinese national will tell the American that s/he needs tuition for English study, but actually uses this money to pay the relationship consultant.  In some cases, when the American visits China to meet his/her Internet friend in person, a visa consultant accompanies the Chinese friend and presents the American with a demand for payment of thousands of dollars in fees.  At times, when the American citizen has refused to pay, s/he has been threatened with physical violence or unlawful detention.  The Consulate has also received reports of Internet relationship scams seeking money, rather than visas.  For instance, the Chinese person will claim they or a close family member has been kidnapped or had a large sum of money stolen and asks the American to wire them money.

While many Chinese citizens are sincere in their desire to marry and live with Americans they meet over the Internet, some are not.  It is important to remember that immigrant visas to the United States are viewed by many Chinese as having a great deal of value, and it is not uncommon for people to enter into relationships for the sole purpose of obtaining a visa.

Visa's are viewed as having a great deal of value?

Shhhhhh let them keep thinking that. LOL

We've got to keep exposing the scam agencies and translators, and like you said in another post until it starts affecting their bottom line it will continue.

We need to somehow get to these new guys.  They are like virgins and will naively pour money to the agencies until the light bulb comes on.

This crap is why it takes us a year to get a Visa.

In my opinion it will probably get more difficult for you guys to get your ladies visas in the future because it seems like your Homeland Security is Empire building just like our UK Border Force and the directors want to have the biggest organisation possible so that their jobs are seen as more worthwhile and therefore giving them more kudos within their bureaucratic organisations.

It seems to me that just like the UK they are unable to stem the tide of illegal immigrants into our countries so to keep their figures up they pick on those who are trying to enter legally and look for any minor infringement to delay or even prevent someone entering even if they have a valid reason.

The longer they take to complete an enquiry to let our ladies in then they say that this is to enable enquiries to be made to ensure the case is genuine.   What in fact they have done is to repeatably put the case at the bottom of a pile until they feel it is expediant to complete the paperwork.

Willy ,
i do believe the USA is the same. they cannot stop the onslaught of
illigals from Mexico so it then becomes harder on the ones who try
and do the right thing

To be honest that advisory is very old. And has been rehashed multiple times over the years, with multiple countries. Whats funnier is reading some of the "stories" surrounding these advisories. They all read the same, for the same reasons, the only thing that changes is the country involved.

Willy,
you forgot ; or those who claim large medical bills for themselves or a family member and ask for money to be sent to cover the bill.

How about we buy an island, elect one of the brothers as president, declare independence from anyone, and not require any visa for chinese women or children as long as they  were married.?  We could then collect millions from the US just for being their "friend"...:icon_cheesygrin:
Shaun,  when I suggested to you to open an "honest" chinese dating service, I was being sincere.  With the notice above you can see the need for one or more places.  Lots of dough in this for the right person.  Mabey you and Willy can go in partners on this.  It's not that you couldn't use the money right?
It will give both of you a steady income, and perhaps you can change things by example.  You could also have a side business by getting a lawyer to work with you that is an expert in visa's.  I hear the jingle of money coming your way....somthing to think about.

Hell, you both could have a small strip mall,  Dating service, immagration lawyer, english teaching service and trip planning service.
(and willy can have the vending machine rights to the viagra in the bathrooms...:icon_cheesygrin::icon_cheesygrin:)

Good idea Rocky - Just one problem is that you need a special licence to introduce Chinese Nationals to Foreigners.  (Most of the Chnlove agencies do not have them I hear) These licences are hard to come by and Chinese can usually get away with not having them - as money talks - but I think us foreigners would have a problem if found out.    Unless of course the business was based outside of China.

Willy

If anyone does have a problem with an angency you can always ask to see their licence.  Problem is it could be the water rates demand that you are shown and you will not have a clue whether it was or was not a licence!!!!

ok i will be president of the island i have many good connections in the
USA from the oil business i was in so i think i could get them to pass thru
the senate appropriations dept a boat load of cash for us. then we could
all live there and ship in food, beer, some musical events and hell we can
let some hollywood people stay at our hotel and charge them 12,000 a night
for the room. it would be a secluded side of the island

Hold on Ted

This island will be no Democratic Republic - we will vote in our President!!!

I cannot support a one party state.  But give me a party at least once a week and that will be OK.  Food and beer can come in on the UN food Aid programme and the rich goverments can pour in millions which we will pocket - why not that goes on in nearly every other country that gets aid!   That means that WE can PAY THE STARS 12,000 a night to stay away.

But what about women?   Done Africans, Done Indians now done Chinese.

So how about  I move onto eskimos - Yes - shack up in a nice cosy Igloo somewhere - they look very sexy all wrapped up in those nice furs.

But hold on - are not Eskimo's Canadian?  I will have to think about that one a bit longer.:icon_cheesygrin:

Come on Vince.    I thought Eskimos were from Greenland north of Canada!   I think Mustfocus would have something to say on the location.

Did not want to pick on the Latins, I had a Brazillian girlfriend once and a Columbian  but at the Latinos are soon going to be the biggest group in the US one day so thought I had better not upset them in case I want to visit again!!!!!

But as the Chinese represent 20% of the worlds population - I hereby revoke anything naughty that I may have said about them in the past!  And also my lady is learning English fast and she may start reading some of my postings soon.:huh:

Inuit?  Actually all over northern Canada and Greenland and Alaska and I think there are some in Russia (although I'm not sure what they're called there)...  Won't claim them solely as our own...
